Chapter 477 Lightning and Sparks
Chapter 477 Lightning and Sparks
It takes nearly an hour to get from the Crown KTV to the Earth Sea Pier warehouse, but Xu Xiangbei arrived at the pier in just twenty minutes.
At this time, the pier warehouse was very quiet, with no vehicles coming and going.
In the distance, the pier was lined with gantry cranes that stood like steel giants, casting huge shadows under the bright spotlights.
Xu Xiangbei turned off the car lights and quietly drove into the darkness. In front of one warehouse, he saw the Toyota van.
"That’s the car. They should be here. Miss Su, you’d better wait in the car. I can handle them alone. If you go, you’ll only hinder me."
Su Xinyun was very nervous. Although she pretended to be very bold and wanted to go with Xu Xiangbei, her legs were trembling.
Su Xinyun knew she had to calm herself down: "Okay, I’ll wait here for you. Be careful."
Xu Xiangbei carefully walked toward the warehouse and hid below a half-open window, from which he could see everything inside the warehouse.
The warehouse was filled with rows of shelves, all of which contained sealed cardboard boxes. A chemical smell wafted from the boxes.
Xu Xiangbei felt his Inner Strength rapidly circulating inside him, and the sounds in the warehouse began to amplify in his ears. Before long, he heard a voice coming from deep inside the warehouse.
The voice sounded familiar: "I’ve cooperated with you for so many years, completing your orders on time and in full. I made money, but you made even more. I thought we had become friends after all these years, but I never expected you to treat me like I’m not even human, not even as good as a dog. Today, I’m going to show you my power."
Xu Xiangbei suddenly realized that this was Zhao Changheng’s voice; it was Zhao Changheng who had kidnapped Su Xinyun.
Xu Xiangbei also understood that the venomous look Zhao Changheng gave when leaving the restaurant was not directed at Xu Xiangbei, but rather at Su Xinyun.
Crawling through the window into the warehouse, Xu Xiangbei covered his mouth to shield against the nauseating chemical smell from the boxes as he moved through the shelves. The boxes, despite their foul odor, provided excellent cover, allowing Xu Xiangbei to gradually approach his target.
Through the gaps between the boxes, Xu Xiangbei saw everything happening ahead.
Zhao Changheng and three others had tied Su Xinyun to a chair. Su Xinyun, without her usual haughty demeanor, was woeful and disheveled.
His face was splattered with blood, and both cheeks were swollen, evidently having suffered quite a bit.
Zhao Changheng was continuously shouting, angrily cursing, venting his rage at Su Xinyun.
Xu Xiangbei was a bit surprised that, although Zhao Changheng and the others had worn masks at the Crown KTV, they were not wearing masks now. The only explanation was that they were not worried about being recognized by Su Xinyun.
A dreadful thought arose in Xu Xiangbei’s mind—could Zhao Changheng be certain to silence Su Xinyun, killing him so they wouldn’t face kidnapping charges? This kid didn’t seem that ruthless.
As Xu Xiangbei speculated wildly, a light sound came from the window where Su Xinyun also climbed through and even waved to Xu Xiangbei.
Seeing Su Xinyun’s clumsy effort at crawling through the window, Xu Xiangbei could only smile wryly. He had four Iron Gall, and even if they had guns, he was confident enough to handle the situation.
But with Su Xinyun inside, Xu Xiangbei had to spare some mental energy to protect her.
Since she was inside and couldn’t be chased away, Xu Xiangbei pointed behind the shelves, signaling Su Xinyun to stand there and not move.
Su Xinyun stared blankly at Xu Xiangbei, not comprehending his sign pointing to the ground. As Xu Xiangbei cautiously moved forward, she followed closely, her large innocent eyes fixed on him.
Xu Xiangbei took a deep breath, really puzzled as to how someone with that level of intelligence could create such poetic ink landscape paintings.
Coincidentally, with a crash, Su Xinyun knocked a cardboard box to the floor, creating a loud noise.
Zhao Changheng and the others were startled, raising their hunting rifles towards Xu Xiangbei’s hiding spot: "Who’s there? Come out."
Xu Xiangbei really wanted to punch Su Xinyun unconscious first, but all he could do was raise both hands as he stepped out from behind the shelves. Su Xinyun, foolishly raising her hands too, followed him out.
It turned out to be Xu Xiangbei. Zhao Changheng was initially stunned, then burst into hysterical laughter, laughing so hard he struggled to catch his breath and couldn’t straighten up: "President Xu, it’s really you. Haha, this is great. I was still wondering if you were enjoying yourself in bed with that beauty at this hour, but you followed me all the way here."
Xu Xiangbei grinned cheekily: "I know I was wrong tonight and made you angry, but I really didn’t receive one penny from the Su Clan toy orders. Really. I was worried you’d hold it against me, so I drove here to tell you. Now that I’ve explained, can I leave?"
Zhao Changheng sneered coldly: "Bah, I don’t care whether you’ve received orders from the Su Clan toys or not. You undercut me in Yanjing, won my stocks, how are we going to settle that score?"
Xu Xiangbei slowly walked forward, hands raised, with a sly smile: "I’m innocent! First, let me declare that I didn’t undercut you; it was the Dragon Tiger Group’s bid, and we at the Thunderbird Group were just tagging along, so please don’t blame me. As for winning your stock, fair play for losers. If you really can’t stand losing, we can bet again, and I’ll let you win it back, is that okay with you?"
Zhao Changheng was furious: "Shut up, you’re trying to trick me into gambling again, you gambler, swindler, I’m not falling for it, I want to split your head open to see if your brain is filled with cotton or just straw pack."
Suddenly, Xu Xiangbei waved his hands, and four gleaming arcs flashed by, as four heavy Iron Balls described a beautiful trajectory towards Zhao Changheng and the others.
At the same time, Zhao Changheng pressed the trigger.
As the saying goes, strike first to gain the upper hand; hesitate and face disaster. Xu Xiangbei distracted Zhao Changheng while he approached within range for the Iron Balls.
The speed at which he cast the Iron Balls could be described as lightning-fast.
By the time Zhao Changheng pulled the trigger, Xu Xiangbei’s four Iron Balls had already hit their gun barrels, sending all the hunting rifles flying from their hands.
Zhao Changheng felt a pain in his hand as his rifle fell to the ground at his feet. He hurried to pick it up, but another cold gleam flashed by. He felt a heavy blow to the head, and his vision went dark as he fell to the ground.
The four burly men who had been standing there menacingly with guns had all collapsed to the ground in an instant. Su Xinyun was utterly stunned, her mouth agape wide enough to fit an egg inside.
