Chapter 1038 You forgot, they are all Batman
The light of the Dark Knights has been obscured.
We probably have to admit that, from the macro perspective of the entire DC multiverse, these members of the Dark Knights are not particularly powerful.
The history of the multiverse is too long and vast, and many powerful but not particularly formidable characters have appeared throughout history.
For example, the Emperor (Note: Captain Atom's corrupted form), or Gog (Note: who triggered the major event Gog War), or Mo Cun (Note: another major instigator of the Zero Hour Crisis besides Parallax Mohal), but none of them have left their names in the DC multiverse for long.
Unlike Brainiac, Darkseid, and Lex Luthor, who reappeared in the main universe after multiple reboots of the DC multiverse and were part of a grander historical tide, they were merely fleeting glimpses of solidified earth.
When the roads in the time-traveled world are repaved and the cement called history gradually solidifies, their existence will dissipate like stars in the sky, rather than remaining firmly anchored to the reality of the time-traveled world like a nail like Superman.
The Dark Knights are similar characters. They are not even as powerful as the Emperor or Mo Cun to destroy the Universe and manipulate time. They will eventually be forgotten and discarded by the ever-flowing history of the DC multiverse in the upstream of the hypertime stream. They are not powerful, not strong, not great.
Therefore, Papetua ignored them.
Perpetua's gaze was fixed on Batman: Dragon, The Batman Who Laughs, or Doctor Manhattan, The Hanged Man, Hecate—all sufficiently dangerous characters. Perpetua was nearly driven to desperation; she now needed powerful and evil enough figures from the Dark Multiverse to act as her tentacles, like the fangs of a viper piercing the other's body, to facilitate the injection of toxins. So she began searching for some.
That's it.
As for what the Dark Knights will do? They wouldn't dare.
Didn't they obey orders when the Batman Who Laughs gave them those commands?
When Barbatos commanded them, what did these members of the Dark Knights say?
And then there's Batman Dragon. These characters crumble before Batman Dragon, no match for him at all. They're inherently weak, but they just happen to meet my requirements.
Perpetua doesn't need these Dark Knights members to do anything. Once they are successfully deployed into the Watchers universe, each of their bodies will become a receiver for Perpetua to project his anti-crisis energy. Perpetua can use these deployed Dark Knights members to corrupt the Watchers universe. Normally, corruption wouldn't be so easy, but Perpetua had previously reshaped Antarctica in the Watchers universe. Once these characters are deployed, Perpetua can use them as a fulcrum to directly tear Antarctica apart.
In fact, although Papetua always seemed to avoid Dr. Manhattan as much as possible and avoid confronting him directly, she never stopped deconstructing Dr. Manhattan.
Dr. Manhattan arrived in the DC multiverse quite early, roughly after the Final Crisis and before the New 52. He used The Flash to create the New 52 event, rebooting the entire DC multiverse and incidentally slapping Wally into the Speed Force.
Since the New 52, a mountain of events has occurred in the DC multiverse. But for the Watchers universe, history seems to be quite different.
The peace created by Dr. Manhattan and the Ozymandias, who killed millions, is destroyed by Rorschach, and the shadow of nuclear war once again looms over the world.
Gone.
What's next?
Shouldn't the sequel be Dr. Manhattan creating the New 52 in the DC multiverse, while a nuclear war breaks out in the Watchmen universe, turning the world into scorched earth and everything is destroyed?
Shouldn't the storyline be like this?
Unfortunately, no.
Time in the Watchmen universe seems to have stopped relative to the DC multiverse; nothing has happened. No matter what Dr. Manhattan did in the DC multiverse, when he returns, history will still be at the moment Dr. Manhattan left.
Papetua realized that it was a protection set up by Dr. Manhattan for the Watchmen universe. Although Dr. Manhattan could not violate the rules of the universe and change the past history of the Watchmen universe, it did not mean that he could not prevent things from happening yet.
By utilizing these Batmen from the Dark Universe, Perpetua could break through Doctor Manhattan's protection and tear apart the history of the Watchmen universe.
This historical rift will be irreversible for a world like the Watchers universe, which doesn't even have a time-travel system. Therefore, Dr. Manhattan absolutely cannot allow this to happen. Doing so would turn the situation into a test of just how much Dr. Manhattan cares about the Watchers universe, and whatever choice Dr. Manhattan makes—
All of these could become means for Papetua to bring him down.
Therefore, Papetua is now very satisfied.
The act of killing the drowned innocent soul as an example silenced all the foolish tools of the Dark Knights, who became as quiet as quails in fear.
"Great Mother of the Multiverse, we surrender to you."
The Killing Machine was the first to step forward. From the Killing Machine's perspective, his Alfred Ghost was holding a teleprompter next to Papetua.
We all know about the killing machine. He turned Alfred from his own world into an artificial intelligence (AI) that would forever remain within his body, so from his perspective, his Alfred could appear anywhere, even on Papetua's forehead.
His Alfred will stop at nothing and by any means necessary to protect Baby Bruce from harm.
The sign they held up read: "What exactly do you want us to do for you? Into the Watchmen universe?"
"That's all you need to do," Papetua said. "Then you can create some massacres or something, which is exactly what you do best. The more you disrupt the timeline, the better. You can even destroy one or two countries, it's up to you."
"Thank you very much. We are willing to follow your orders. After completing the mission, how should we return?" the killing machine said, enunciating each word clearly.
"I will bring you back, so get ready. I require you to hold hands as I blast through the membrane of the Watchers universe and throw you in."
Each of the Bruces exchanged a glance without saying a word; they conveyed all their opinions in a single look.
"Yes, Great Mother of the Multiverse, please proceed."
"The killing machine said."
All the blues had their eyes downcast.
"We're looking forward to it."
