Chapter 15: Challenging Gildarts!
Chapter 15: Challenging Gildarts!
"Haha! Moen, you've grown taller again!"
Once he realized what was happening, Gildarts walked over to Moen, reached out and patted Moen on the shoulder. The uncle grinned heartily, showing off a row of big white teeth. He was obviously very happy to see Moen as soon as he returned, as he had watched Moen grow up.
"You've been gone for half a year, I'm sure I'll have grown taller by now."
Moen was actually quite happy to see Gildarts; he smiled brightly. To Moen, Gildarts was the one he was closer to than his nominal father, Ivan Doleah.
Gildarts was undoubtedly special to the orphans in the guild. He treated the guild as his home and every member as a family member. In front of the children, he always tried his best to play the role of a good father.
"That's great. You've all grown up and will soon be able to stand on your own. The guild will have a bright future."
Gildarts was very pleased to see Fairy Tail getting better day by day and to see the children growing up healthily. He felt very comfortable, just like his own children were doing well.
"Kildarts, how long will you stay this time?"
Moen asked curiously as he reached out to help Gildarts with his bag, but Gildarts refused.
"No need, I can take it myself. These are all treasures—kids shouldn't look at them!"
Gildarts raised an eyebrow and chuckled twice. Judging from the old man's expression, Moen could roughly guess what was inside.
Like Grandpa Makarov, Uncle Kirdas has the same flaw: he's a womanizer.
Strictly speaking, this can't be considered a flaw. Everyone loves beauty, and gentlemen are attracted to beautiful women. Although they are powerful, they would never do anything out of line. It would be more frightening if a man didn't appreciate women.
The two entered the guild and sat down in the hall. Gildarts threw his bag on the table, and through the gap in the opening, Moen could vaguely see some scantily clad women, like magazines, and it seemed that the entire bag was full of them.
"..."
Moen fell silent, unsure what to say. Who would carry a bunch of beauty magazines in their hand luggage?!
"I'll stay here a bit longer this time, and even if I go out, I won't be gone for too long."
Gildarts noticed Moen's strange gaze and, while speaking, he held the duffel bag to his feet.
"Not now, Moen. You can see it when you're a little older."
Gildarts's expression was serious. Moen was still young, and Gildarts knew what he could and couldn't see. He wouldn't do anything reckless.
"...I don't want to watch!"
"Fine, old man, I challenge you! I'll show you how much I've improved lately! And while you're at it, tell me about your shattering magic!"
Moen initially wanted to offer some explanation, but ultimately gave up and instead launched a solo challenge against Gildarts.
"Oh? You've learned a new spell? Then let's go."
Gildarts laughed upon hearing this. Looking at the spirited Moen, he didn't refuse but readily agreed, as he was quite willing to guide the younger generation in their cultivation.
The two arrived at the guild's backyard, a spacious area perfect for combat.
Behind the Fairy Tail guild hall is a large lake with azure water and rippling waves. The scenery is actually quite nice, and you can even see people rowing boats on it.
However, neither Moen nor Gildarts were in the mood to appreciate the scenery. The two stood facing each other, Gildarts standing there casually, his hands hidden under his wide cloak. At first glance, this man seemed to be full of flaws.
"Let's begin."
Gildarts smiled and began to speak.
Moen's face was serious and his expression solemn; he did not make any rash moves.
He adjusted his breathing and quickly mobilized the magic power within his body, causing the vortex-like source of magic power to vibrate!
'Changing outfit! Equuleus Bronze Cloth!'
Before taking action, Moen summoned his new equipment. The azure-blue Equuleus Bronze Cloth flew out quickly and covered his body, looking both heroic and well-fitting.
As magic surged and his mind became incredibly focused, Moen vaguely sensed that the Saint Cloth seemed to be subtly drawing upon the power of the starry sky, and the horse head of Equuleus hidden behind Pegasus flickered slightly.
"Oh? So you've learned a new dress-up spell."
Seeing the stylish armor on Moen's body, Gildarts raised an eyebrow, quite intrigued. Moen really did have something new.
"Buzz!"
Moen exerted all his strength, stomped the ground, and charged towards Gildarts like a sharp sword, without having to consider holding back at all.
Past experiences have shown that there is still a significant gap between him and Gildarts.
"ha!"
With a sharp shout, Moen's fist shot out with tremendous force, creating a gust of wind as it aimed straight for Gildarts' left cheek.
"Bang!"
Gildarts raised his left arm to block the punch with a thud, and then he made a move to kick out with his right foot.
"!"
Moen's eyes widened, and he instantly released his strength, then jumped back and did two backflips to quickly create distance.
With the power of the Equuleus Bronze Cloth, Moen felt much more agile, like a swift and spirited horse.
"You reacted very quickly."
Gildarts smiled and spoke, but his legs were not actually lifted; he remained standing steadily.
'Kildarts, you're putting a lot of pressure on me!'
Moen remained calm, but inwardly he was filled with emotion. Just now, Gildarts had only made a gesture of raising his foot, and his brain was already sending out frantic warnings. In that instant, he truly had the illusion that he would die if he didn't dodge.
This must be... murderous intent? Gildarts is no saint; there's no doubt that his hands are stained with blood.
That's what makes it so exciting!
Moen was not discouraged; his heart burned even brighter. The stronger Gildarts became, the more excited he became. He was completely different from when he fought Natsu, and he was now in a state of intense focus.
It was in this state of concentration that he vaguely sensed the connection between the source of magic, the Saint Cloth, and the stars in the sky.
However, this connection was very weak, appearing and disappearing intermittently, and did not bring much help. Instead, it distracted Moen, so he quickly adjusted his mindset and stopped paying attention to the inexplicable connection.
"Phew~"
Moen let out a long sigh of relief. He assumed a starting stance and swiftly traced the star map with both hands.
"Buzz!"
Before Moen, the Pegasus constellation, with its wings spread, shimmered with blue light.
In the sea of stars, Pegasus, which had been blocking Equuleus, seemed to pulsate slightly.
"Um?"
The strange magical fluctuations made Gildarts narrow his eyes.
