Chapter 63 The Return
Chapter 63 The Return
Zhao Chen broke through the bottleneck of the late stage of the Nascent Soul realm on an ordinary night.
There was no heavenly tribulation or strange phenomenon at that time; instead, the power of the surrounding stars flowed into Zhao Chen's body like rivers flowing into the sea.
Zhao Chen's primordial spirit in his sea of consciousness suddenly opened its eyes, initially shining brightly with golden light, before slowly receding.
Sitting on a meteorite in the outer space of Planet Gela, Zhao Chen felt the power surging wildly within his body. The pure Yang true fire within him gradually changed from deep gold to dark gold; although its temperature was restrained, it became even more deadly.
Zhao Chen's three natal magic treasures also improved along with their master's breakthrough.
—The natal magic weapon shares the glory and disgrace of the cultivator. When the cultivator's cultivation level breaks through, the power of the magic weapon will also evolve in sync. This is the characteristic of the natal magic weapon.
Standing up, Zhao Chen's Golden Crow Escape Light flashed, and his speed more than doubled compared to before. What used to take a quarter of an hour to fly back to the Demon Cave from outer space now took less than half an hour.
Goron was patrolling the camp gate when he suddenly saw a dark golden light shooting from the horizon and landing in front of him in the blink of an eye.
As the light gradually faded, Zhao Chen emerged from it, his body devoid of any energy fluctuations. However, Goron instinctively took a step back—feeling that the oppressive aura emanating from the king was more than twice as strong as before.
"Your Majesty, you've broken through?"
Zhao Chen nodded. He walked to the top of North Mountain and activated his Fiery Eyes of Truth, looking towards the Angel Nebula. The starry sky within a radius of tens of thousands of miles was spread out before his eyes; spatial folds, energy fluctuations, and distant starlight all became clearly visible to him.
Zhao Chen descended the mountain and had someone summon Goron and Iron Anvil to the stone house. He instructed them, "I will be leaving for a while. The Demon Cave will be temporarily in your care."
Goron was stunned: "My king, how long are you going to be gone?"
"I don't know. It could take a few months, or it could take a year." Zhao Chen looked at them. "In the meantime, you can handle the matter of the Demon Cave yourselves. If Marcus comes, proceed with the trade as usual. If the void creatures invade, activate the formation and wait for me to return."
Goron straightened up: "Don't worry, Your Majesty, the Demon Cave won't be lost with me here."
The anvil stood to the side without saying a word, only nodding.
Zhao Chen then took out three jade talismans from his storage ring and handed them to Goron. "Keep these three jade talismans safe. If you encounter an enemy you can't defeat, crush these talismans, and I will know."
After giving these instructions, Zhao Chen activated the Golden Crow Escape Light and soared into the sky. The dark golden light pierced the night sky as he flew towards the Angel Nebula.
After flying for about three days, Zhao Chen suddenly stopped on a meteorite, sat cross-legged, and spread his divine sense to the surroundings with all his might. Zhao Chen's divine sense, now at the late-stage Nascent Soul stage, covered several times its previous range, allowing him to perceive most of the star field. He was searching for the location of Keisha's camp; although he knew the general direction, he still needed to confirm it.
Zhao Chen's divine sense swept across planet after planet, and when he scanned the outer perimeter of the seventh planet, he finally caught those familiar auras.
The aura fluctuations belonged to Keisha, He Xi, Liang Bing, and tens of thousands of female angels. Although the camp was hidden on a satellite cluster of a gas giant, its location was well-concealed. However, Zhao Chen's perception was too sharp, and he couldn't hide it at all.
Changing direction, Zhao Chen unleashed his full power and flew towards the satellite.
Looking around, the camp was much larger than before. More than 10,000 female angels were scattered across several nearby satellites, each equipped with training grounds, forging workshops, warehouses, and other infrastructure.
Zhao Chen landed on the outskirts of the camp. A female angel on night watch recognized him and quickly ran to report the news.
When Zhao Chen reached the center of the camp, Keisha was already waiting outside.
She wore a set of silver-white armor, not the previous kind; it must be He Xi's latest creation. Her long golden hair cascaded over her shoulders, and although her face was expressionless, Zhao Chen noticed that her breathing was slightly rapid.
The two stood there silently staring at each other for a few seconds.
Keisha didn't say anything, turned around and walked back into the stone house. Zhao Chen quickly followed her inside.
There were only the two of them in the stone house at this moment. Keisha was standing there with her back to Zhao Chen, her shoulders tense.
Zhao Chen walked over and hugged her tightly from behind. Keisha's body stiffened for a moment, then slowly relaxed. Without turning around, her voice was very soft: "You still know how to come back."
"I will naturally do what I promised."
Keisha turned around and looked up at Zhao Chen's face. There was no blame or joy in her golden eyes, only something indescribable—like a sudden sigh of relief, or like finally letting go of a heart that had been hanging in suspense.
She reached out and grabbed the collar of the shirt in front of her, then with a slight pull, opened her mouth and kissed him.
Zhao Chen wrapped his arms around her waist and reciprocated with a deep kiss. Keisha was breathless from the kiss and bit his lower lip hard, the taste of blood spreading in their mouths. Taking advantage of the moment when he was in pain, she released Zhao Chen, took a step back, and wiped her mouth.
"Hua Ye is about to attack."
"I know that."
"Sumali has established three strongholds on the front lines, garrisoning over 20,000 men." Keisha walked to the stone table, spreading out a star map. "He Xi's equipment isn't complete yet, and Liang Bing's guerrilla warfare is becoming less and less effective. I need you right now."
Zhao Chen walked to the star map and glanced at the locations of the three strongholds.
"Where is Sumari?"
Keisha pointed to the center with her finger. "Right here. He's in charge himself."
I'll go check it out tonight.
Keisha looked at him: "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No need, I can manage on my own."
Keisha remained silent for a while, then offered no further advice. She knew Zhao Chen too well; once he made a decision, it was very difficult to change it.
"Then go see He Xi and Liang Bing and tell them you're back."
Zhao Chen nodded and turned to leave.
"Zhao Chen," Keisha called out to him.
Zhao Chen turned around, his eyes questioning.
Keisha looked at him, her lips moved slightly, but in the end she only said one sentence: "Be careful of Sumari. He's become stronger than before."
Zhao Chen smiled but didn't say anything. He lifted the curtain and went out.
On the north side of the camp, a cave was faintly lit. When Zhao Chen went in, He Xi was testing a piece of armor at the testing table. Her silver hair was tied into a ponytail and hung down her shoulders, and her hands were covered in metallic powder.
"I heard you're back. Did you successfully break through?" He Xi asked without even looking up, as if she already knew Zhao Chen was coming.
Zhao Chen didn't answer. Instead, he walked over. He Xi looked up and glared at him. Suddenly, Zhao Chen reached out and grabbed the back of her head, then leaned down and kissed her.
He Xi initially tried to push against his chest, but found she couldn't budge him. She turned her head to avoid him, but Zhao Chen held her firmly, preventing her from moving. In the end, she could only grit her teeth and refuse to let Zhao Chen succeed.
Zhao Chen wasn't in a hurry. He continued kissing her, and one hand quietly slid down to He Xi's waist, pulling her into his arms.
He Xi gripped Zhao Chen's shirt tightly, her nails digging into the fabric with all her might. Her breathing became increasingly erratic, and her jaw began to loosen.
Zhao Chen kissed her even deeper.
After what seemed like an eternity, Zhao Chen slowly released her. He Xi's breathing was rapid, her lips slightly red from Zhao Chen's kisses, her silver eyes misted over, and her face wore the expression of someone who had been bullied by a thug—anger, helplessness, and something else she couldn't quite define. Her chest heaved violently, her breathing still unsteady.
"Are you sick?" Her voice was a little hoarse.
Zhao Chen chuckled and reached out to wipe the water from the corner of her mouth. He Xi quickly turned her head away from his outstretched hand, picked up a piece of dark silver ingot from the table, and stuffed it into Zhao Chen's arms.
"This is what Keisha left for you." She took a step back, creating some distance, and took a deep breath to calm herself. "Weapons made from this are much stronger than those made from Dark Bronze. Now that the item has been delivered, you can leave."
Zhao Chen put the Dark Silver into his storage ring, but showed no intention of leaving.
"Is there anything else?" He Xi frowned as she looked at him.
Zhao Chen didn't know how to coax her.
Seeing that Zhao Chen remained silent, she turned around and went back to the testing table, bending down to pick up the tools she had thrown on the ground. Watching He Xi's retreating figure, Zhao Chen secretly decided to quietly walk over and wrap his arms around her waist from behind.
He Xi froze, dropping the tools she had just picked up to the ground. She tried to pry Zhao Chen's fingers apart, but couldn't budge them.
"Let go." Her voice was low and tinged with annoyance.
Zhao Chen didn't let go, and lowered his head to kiss her neck. He Xi's body instantly tensed up like a bow, and her head involuntarily tilted back, resting her head on Zhao Chen's shoulder. Her fingers gripped the back of Zhao Chen's hand tightly, and her nails dug into her flesh with too much force.
"Zhao Chen." He Xi's voice trembled, not from fear, but from the helplessness and anger of being cornered. "Keisha is still outside."
Zhao Chen paused for a moment, but finally let go of her.
He Xi immediately took two steps forward, distancing herself from Zhao Chen, her back to him, her shoulders trembling slightly. She didn't dare turn around; although her voice had regained its usual calm, it still trembled slightly. "I beg you, please don't come looking for me again."
Zhao Chen watched her retreating figure, knowing it was no time to press her further, so he quietly turned and left.
He Xi stood there, listening to his footsteps gradually fade into the distance. After a long while, she bent down to pick up the tools from the ground. Her hands were still trembling. She took a deep breath, slammed the tools she had just picked up onto the table, closed her eyes, and mumbled something under her breath.
Liang Bing was practicing her swordplay at the training ground.
When Zhao Chen walked over, she was sparring with a female angel. Her swordsmanship had become much more powerful than before, and her movements were more agile, showing that she had put in a lot of effort during the time Zhao Chen was away.
After the sparring session ended, Liang Bing sheathed her sword and walked towards Zhao Chen. She looked him up and down, then grinned, "Brother-in-law, you've finally decided to come back."
"I heard you're going to kill Sumali?" Liang Bing's eyes sparkled with anticipation. "Take me with you."
Zhao Chen looked at her speechlessly: "You think you can beat him?"
Liang Bing's smile froze instantly, and she pouted, "I may not be able to beat you, but I can cheer you on."
Seeing that Zhao Chen ignored her, Liang Bing suddenly leaned closer and whispered mysteriously, "Brother-in-law, I haven't told my sister about you kissing me yet."
"Then I thank you for sparing my life."
Liang Bing stared at Zhao Chen for a while, then suddenly took a step back, her expression becoming more serious. "Brother-in-law, please don't die. My sister is still waiting for you."
Zhao Chen nodded and turned to leave with a flourish.
Liang Bing stood on the training field, watching his departing figure, and muttered softly, "Remember to come back soon."
As night fell, Zhao Chen set off from the camp, his golden crow-like light piercing the night sky as he flew towards the stronghold where Sumali was stationed.
